.58 Cal. SPRINGFIELD Model 1861
HISTORY: The model 1861 Springfield musket was the principal weapon of the Civil War. By the end of 1863, most Federal infantry men were armed with this weapon or the Enfield . This model was adopted in accordance with the recommendation of the Ordnance Board Convened at Washington on May 19, 1860 . It embodies a few changes from the Model 1855, but it occupies a very important place among the Civil War Muskets, for in addition to the 265,129 of them produced at Springfield , it was the model that the musket contracts were founded upon.

C.S. RICHMOND MUSKET:
HISTORY: Manufactured 1861-1865 by Richmond Armory in Richmond , Virginia . This model musket was produced in larger numbers than all other Confederate longarms manufactured during the Civil War. .58 caliber with one piece forged barrel. The one piece walnut stock is accented with a brass nosecap and buttplate . The lockplate is marked C.S.Richmond , Va. with the 1862 date. The barrel has three land and grooves and one 66" twist. The same excellent quality exhibited in the 1861 Springfield (A-1) has been reproduced n the C.S. Richmond Musket.

ENFIELDS:
HISTORY: The Enfield Rifled Musket was imported from England and used by both the U.S. and the Confederate States . It comes with a blued barrel, bands & lock. The buttplate , trigger guard and nose cap are made of brass.
